Barangaw is the divine embodiment of the rainbow and hope, he is one of the gods invoked during battle. Ancient Visayans believed that Barangaw picks up the souls of those who have fallen in war and battle to and leads them to the rainbow bridge that brings them directly to heaven.
He is also the god of hope, that gives hope for those who are outmatched or out numbered in combat.
