Ribung Linti is the Visayan deity of thunbder and lightning his name literally means Thousand Lightnings. He is one of the gods residing in the skies along with Pahulangkug and Saragangka Bagyo,
Ancient Visayan's believed that the skies and seas where filled with beast and monsters and that Ribung Linthi are keeping them at bay when they want to go near the islands and the people
They depict him as strong and muscular weidla a spear and sword (bangkaw at binagon) made of lightning that he hurls at evil forces. When lightning strikes the earth or a tree or at sea, they believed that Ribung Linthi has strike evils unseen. Also he is the god invoked upon when you want to curse someone or out of anger you can curse using the word "lintian!" short curse word for "may lightning strike you"
