Rice
long ago the there was no rice. people ate root crops, vegetables, fish and other animals. They hunted for meat and gathered root crops and that was their way, until one day the animals were gone and so were the root crops
A group of young men went to the forest to hunt, they were exhausted and hungry. Then beautiful young men and women appeared, these beautiful young men and women were glowing and were covered in gold, they turned out to be "diwata" gods and goddesses. They gave the young hunters food, the hunters refused because they thought the food were white maggots. The young gods and goddesses giggled and told the hunters that it was rice, that it was a gift from the One true god. the gods and goddesses taught the hunters how to plan, harvest and cook rice. That it would be green when planted, gold when it would be harvested and white when eaten. The gods and goddesses also told the hunters to spread the knowledge all over the lands, and other islands.
